Are you interested in becoming a Foster Carer but want to work with adults instead? Could you build a caring relationship with someone and provide a supportive home life? Do you have at least one spare room? Could you share your family home with a vulnerable adult?

We have organised an information evening for anyone who would want to provide short breaks or a long term placement for a vulnerable adult.

Shared Lives: What is the scheme?
It’s a flexible service providing care and support to vulnerable adults. This support is provided in the homes of Shared Lives carers and can be on a respite, short or long term basis. This enables vulnerable adults to share in family and community life along with promoting independent living.

Who is the service for?
Shared Lives provides a service for vulnerable adults aged 18 years or over; who have a diagnosed learning disability, physical disability, mental health needs, eligibility criteria to access services within the local borough.

The Local Authority is looking to approve and train Shared Lives Carers in encouraging vulnerable adults to develop their skills, in order to maximise the quality of their life, and potential for independence in the community.

The Local Authority is committed to ensure the scheme reflex’s the multicultural nature of the community it serves, and that it is appropriate and accessible. Shared Lives ensures that the cultural, religious and ethnic needs of all service users are met by careful and sensitive matching of users and carers.

The scheme is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and adheres to current legislation.

If you are coming from work you are invited to join us at 6.30pm for a light snack. The information sharing starts at 7pm.
